about the book…..
When Sienna Hegarty turns up at his family home one night, covered in blood and frozen in shock, psychologist Joe O’Loughlin finds himself drawn deep into her world, trying to unearth the dark secrets her mind has buried. The police find a major piece of the puzzle at Sienna’s house: her father, a retired cop, is face-down in a pool of his own blood, his throat slashed and his skull caved in. The blood covering Sienna was his. The 14-year-old can’t remember what happened that night but, at the same time, Sienna doesn’t mourn her father’s death. What was going on behind closed doors in the Hegarty household? Is Sienna guilty of brutal murder? And what part has her charismatic teacher Gordon Ellis played in this blood-soaked event?
My Two Cents
Bleed for Me was a won book from Goodreads. I was so excited, I have read others in this series and loved them. This baby was no disappointment!
I think I am in love with Joe O’Loughlin! I love his attitude, his dry humor and his outlook on life. He handles situations with grace and efficiency. In this book he is like a dog who won’t let go of his bone.
The story moves at lightening speed and Joe is determined to help Sienna and get to the bottom of things. Sienna is a friend of Joe’s daughter and Joe knows things at home may not be what they seem. In case this was not enough Joe is dealing with a teacher who is not what he seems, a soon to be ex-wife who is still in love with him, and let’s not forget Mr. Parkinson. That’s how Joe refers to his disease that is slowing changing his life. His way of dealing with this disease is amazing. He says he has Parkinsons but it does not have him!
Every character in the book is outstanding and the author does a great job of making us love them, dislike them, question them and shake our heads. The secondary story with Joe and his family is heart warming. I am still rooting for him and hope his wife gives him another chance. My favorite part was Joe talking to one of his wife’s dates.. I was laughing out loud!
I think even readers who have never read the author’s other books will still enjoy this. Of course I have to say go back and read the others for more background and to enjoy Joe, he is that good.

About the book:
Many of us feel as if we are in an emotional and spiritual desert lacking common courtesy, respect and companionship from our family, coworkers, and others in our lives. Some of us are wondering how we will pay the bills or if there will be enough food to last until the next payday. Although technology has come a long way in recent decades, over the last 2000 years, human emotions have remained the same. Life in the natural world can be filled with heartache and desolation.
If you are going through challenging times, don’t despair! Whether you are fearful, grieving, hungry, lonely, physically ailing or despondent there is hope. Sensations: A Little Book of Love, Inspiration and Poetic Contemplations can help you find the courage to cope and blossom as you overcome life’s obstacles.
Our Two Cents:
Sensations is exactly what the title says it is…A little book of love. It falls under the Self-Help category but it is so much more and I believe there is something in it for everyone at every stage of their life. It is a work book with personal reflection questions at the end of the chapters focusing on what that chapter was about. I read this as an e-book and answered the questions as notes in my reader. It will be interesting to go back and see how my answers change as time goes on.
There are chapters on everything from Courage to Endurance and so much more. My favorites are Patience, Soul and Intuition. The author prefaces the chapters with quotes from some famous people and her own work as well. Each and every one are terrific words to live by.
“Whether you think you can or whether you think you can’t, you’re right.” Henry Ford
Says it all doesn’t it?
I enjoyed the Author’s Note where she gives us a little background on how the book came about. She also offers a Pay it Forward when you purchase the book, I admire her for doing that.
Sensations is a short book that is full of inspiration and positive messages. I believe it will mean something different to each person that reads it. It is the kind of book that you can easily apply to your life. I know this is a book I will go back to again and again.

About the book…..
From the New York Times bestselling author of A Heartbeat Away and The Last Surgeon comes a shocking new novel at the crossroads of politics and medicine.
What if a well respected doctor inexplicably goes on a murderous rampage?
When Dr. John Meacham goes on a shooting spree the office, his business partner, staff, and two patients are killed in the bloodbath. Then Meacham turns the gun on himself.
The blame falls on Dr. Lou Welcome. Welcome worked with Meacham years before as a counselor after John’s medical license had been revoked for drug addiction. Lou knew that John was an excellent doctor and deserved to be practicing medicine and fought hard for his license to be restored. After hearing the news of the violent outburst, Lou is in shock like everyone else, but mostly he’s incredulous. And when he begins to look into it further, the terrifying evidence he finds takes him down a path to an unspeakable conspiracy that seems to lead directly to the White House and those in the highest positions of power.
Our Two Cents….
WOW, how is that for a review? Pretty much sums up my feelings on the book! I love Medical Suspense and Michael Palmer writes the best ones. His characters are ‘real’ people, people who I have no problem identifying with and Dr. Welcome is awesome. He is a dad, an ex-husband, a brilliant doctor who hit bottom and climbed his way back up to now help other doctors suffering the same fate. He never hides from his past or tries to sugar coat it and I admire that. I truly enjoyed his interaction with his teen daughter and the way he handled his ex-wife’s new marriage and husband. I felt that he still loved his ex but he knew it was his fault that he lost her and respected and supported her chance at a new life and happiness. I wish every divorce was this way.
Now for the story……OMG, it was scary and not scary like a horror book. Scary like IT COULD HAPPEN and may be happening. Would we even know it? Read the book, google some terms and get your mind going. I only hope things never get this far. I for one will be watching the corn that I buy. LOL
I was addicted from page one and could not put the book down. UNTIL the termite scene. I am going into no detail because I don’t want to give spoilers but I actually had to put the book down and ‘recover’ from this chapter before moving along. It was written brilliantly, vividly and way too real. I needed a shower. “Nuf said!
Oath of Office is a wonderful book and no review can do it justice. Get it, read it, you won’t be sorry!

About the book….
In researching his acclaimed true-crime books, Philip Carlo interviewed some of the most infamous criminals and killers of our times in prisons and on death rows throughout the country. He was able to forge trusting relationships with his subjects, enabling him to extract the facts behind their monstrous acts and identify what motivated them to commit their horrific crimes. Carlo’s investigative achievements are remarkable, but what wasn’t known to his readers is that, while working on The Ice Man, he learned he had amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a terminal illness that causes all of the muscles in the body to atrophy over time. Suddenly, after years of penetrating the minds of killers, Carlo found himself being pursued by the grim reaper. But rather than lying down and succumbing to the disease, Carlo continued to work, his books still getting published to both critical and commercial acclaim. In The Killer Within, Carlo documents his difficult experiences with ALS and explains how he managed to continue writing prodigiously in the face of adversity. The Killer Within is a gripping, suspenseful page-turner that pulls the listener into the netherworld of Mafia bosses, Mafia hit men, and serial killers, as well as the hard realities of dealing with a fatal disease
Our Two Cents….
We all know that I am a huge true crime fan and Philip Carlo in my opinion is one of the best true crime writers. I am also a big supporter of finding a cure for neuromuscular diseases. Philip Carlo in this book brings us again face to face with some of the worst human killers on this earth but what he also does is takes us into his world, the world of ALS which is the worst neuromuscular disease there is.
To say I loved this book sounds a bit wrong since it deals with a man suffering from a terminal disease, but I did love it. By listening to Mr. Carlo tell his story I was immersed in his life if only for a few hours. I enjoyed his high times, his friendships with Robert De Niro, Tony Danza and Joe Pesci to name a few. I got the opportunity to meet his wife, Laura and his writing assistant Kelsey. I would say the most important women in his life.
I enjoyed hearing him tell about interviewing the serial killers and mob killers for his books. It’s always interesting to get the inside dirt from the author. But what I enjoyed the most (again, that sounds wrong) was Mr. Carlo taking us by the hand and showing us what his day-to-day life was like having ALS. From the initial diagnosis to the progression, the hunt for medicine to help him, the disappointment is not being able to get it and so much more.
While this is a sad book it is not written in a sad way or a pity me way. Mr. Carlo faced this killer head on and did not let it get the best him. He was determined to live life to the fullest whether wheelchair bound or not. He saw the beauty in everything and hearing him describe it took my breath away. I am not usually one for long descriptive sentences but I looked forward to them while listening to this book. I could almost taste the pasta in Italy! Even though I listened at work, I felt like I was sitting in “the office” on the beach with them.
Kent Bateman was an awesome narrator. He brought Mr. Carlo’s feelings to life and captured every emotion from humor to sadness. I will absolutely seek out more books narrated by him.
If you would like an inside seat to what it’s like to be an author, meet killers and deal with a horrible disease, get this book.

About the Book:
There are few things more rewarding than having a pet. They love us unconditionally, shower us with attention, and because of them, we actually live longer. So, what can possibly be awkward about our animal BFFs? Well . . . nothing. In fact, we’re the awkward ones. We adore our pets, but let’s face it—sometimes L-O-V-E makes us go a little overboard. Like giving them middle names, throwing them elaborate birthday parties, and making them a Christmas sweater to match with the rest of the family. Truth is, what they cherish most is our companionship. And maybe that’s the reason we care about them so much—because for such simple pleasures, they allow us to be as awkward as we want.
My Two Cents:
I enjoyed this book. I am an animal lover, cats are of course my favorite pet but I love them all. I enjoy looking at pictures as well. So combine the love of animals and the interest in looking at peoples pictures and you have a win, win for me.
This is not just your everyday dog and cat photos. These are family photos that include the human part of the family as well. We have snakes, pigs, monkeys, and horses just to name a few. Some are dressed, some are posed but all are just a bit out there in my opinion but enjoyable to look at and laugh at. I wondered many times while reading this book if these people meant for these pictures to be funny or if there were serious.
I do believe that is a monkey and one that does not look too happy. Was this a Christmas card? LOL
Those pics are courtesy of Amazon and are just a tease of what you will find in the book. I wish the explanations of the pictures were a little more informative but I suppose they do speak for themselves. It is a fun book that will bring a smile to your face.
