Winter’s Respite Read-a-Thon Start/Update Post

Here I am at the starting line.  Late with my post but better late then never.  I like to think of it as fashionably late. LOL

In case you didn’t know, this read-a-thon is hosted my Michelle @ The True Book Addict and runs until Sunday 1.29.12.   It’s a no pressure thon and I am hoping to read at least a few books.  Better said, finish a few.

These are the books that I am in the process of reading.  All are review books except for the audio.

Here is it 5pm and I am just now checking in.  I spent the day working from home to try to get my posting caught up.  Now it’s time for fun.

I am about to write up a review for Imperfect Justice then visit some other thonners and cheer them on.  I will be back with a further update later tonight.

Trying to update from my nook so bear with me.

Ghosts of Rosewood Asylum= read about 60 pages last night before sleep.

Finished Imperfect Justice at work today. Review to come tomorrow I hope. Still mixed feelings.

Read three chapters of The Color Purple for a read along. Not sure that I like the writing style.

I am sorry that I wasn’t able to visit and cheer my fellow reader’s. I will make up for it tomorrow.

I read about 50 pages of Ghosts of Rosewood Asylum last night/wee hours before I passed out.  I am really liking this book.

I listened to two hours of Imperfect Justice.  I am almost done and will probably get it finished up in work tomorrow.  I have mixed feelings about this book.

I am going to jump around a visit a few fellow thonners than I will get to reading.  Good luck to all!

Cat Thursday and Updates

It’s Thursday already and that means CATS!!!!  I love cats every day but this is a special meme day devoted to the kitties.  This meme is hosted by Michelle at The True Book Addict.  Pop on over to her site and sign up.  One can never loot at enough cat pictures. 

 

What mother or father has not heard those words?  And what is the stock answer?  “I am not everybody else’s mother!”  LOL 

 

On the reading front

I am ashamed to say I have not finished a book in quite awhile.  I try but I am always getting sidetracked.  Right now I am in 3/4 done with The Retribution by Val McDermid.   This is a Tony Hill, Carol Jordan thriller and trust me, it is pretty darn good.  Review to follow soon.  AND, this is a Netgalley read so it fits in with January is Netgalley Month!

Is this not the best?  My fav author who writes the more grotesque and twisted murder thrillers, Val McDermid,has authored a children’s book!  I LOVE it.  I am postive it is fun and kids will love it.  I would be first in line to buy it for my granddaughter but alas, it’s not available in the states yet.  Poor me.  I hope there is more to come!

 

I am also about halfway through  Oath of Office by Michael Palmer.  I teased you with the cover yesterday.  Another winner.  Review to follow shortly.  This is not a netgalley.  I was actually contacted by the author for a review.  YES, Mr. Michael Palmer contacted ME!  <sigh>

Dukan Day 5

I was inspired to try this diet or better said lifestyle when I found flamidwyfe’s blog.  Her blog is so darn interesting.    I want to be her!  Anyway, she is on Dukan and results are awesome so I figuted I w0uld try it out myself. 

 

One hurdle for me is, I am not a meat eater.   Yes, I eat it, but I could very easily do without.  So these seven days of PP (pure protein) are not real easy for me.  I have eaten so much

greek yogurt that I feel like I am Anthony Quinn!  (get it, Zorba the Greek?)  I am very much looking foward to some veggies.  I miss that crunch feelings. 

 

BUT, I have lost three pounds so far so I think I can do this.  Especially once I move on to the Cruise Phase.  I feel great.  Once the headaches passed from sugar/carb withdrawl I felt like a new person. 

Thank you flamidwyfe for kicking me in the pants and getting me started.  Ok, she didn’t acutally kick me in the pants or even know that I was getting started but like I said, she inspired me to take the first steps.

Here ends my updates.  I have been successful at blogging every day so far so that is on track.  Now if I can just get some reading and reviewing done!
